When we moved into this house a couple years ago, these stairs were absolutely disgusting and i new i had to to something about it . Not having the right budget for it at the moment i had to wait until last year ,when i finally convince the hubby for us to do it our selfs and this is what we comeout with .

BEFORE THE DIY RENO

MATERIAL USED:

  • DULUX UNDER PRIMER
  • DULUX AQUANAMEL SEMY GLOSS [VIVID WHITE]
  • VJ PANELS [2 ALL TOGETHER ]
  • NAIL GUN
  • NO GAP SEALER IN WHITE
  • HEAVY DUTY HAND SAW
  • HAND AND ELECTRIC SANDER
  • FEASTON TOP SEALER
  • BRUSH AND ROLLER

HOW TO :

Firstly , i gave the stairs a good clean to make sure there was no dirty at all .

Then with a hand or electric sander i gave a light sand everywhere.Once that was done i applyied one c0at of the dulux primer with a brush waiting 24 hrs to dry before the next step .

I applied 2 coats of the dulux paint using the roller waiting at least 6 hrs before each application .

Then we measured the front of each stairs individually to fit and cut the vj board and Idecided to paint each board twice before installing them , much easier this way.

Once paint was dry, we nailed the vj pieces into the front of each stairs and applyed  the gap filler around each board .

And finally  i apply the top sealer leaving 24 hrs before stepping on them .

It has been nearly a year since this project and the stairs are still like the first day.The key is the waiting times to make sure the paint is cured and dried and then applying the top sealer makes provent chips and so much easier to clean .
