I had always wanted to transform our hallway, but on a budget and I loved the idea of something bold. So without spending a fortune and changing a perfectly good radiator, I painted the existing using Frenchic Al Fresco 'black jack' (which is self priming and self sealing) and suitable for use on radiators, with little or no prep work required.

The space was perfectly fine but I felt like it was lacking the the 'hallway entrance appeal'. I wasn't concerned about using such a dark colour in a small narrow space as we have a huge window which lets in a lot of light.

I used three coats of paint and then removed the radiator grill at the top and spray painted this twice using Painters Touch Rust-oleum with a matt finish, which I already had to hand from a previous project.

I decided on black because not only was it bold but it already suited all of the hallway accessories I owned.

I then purchased a very reasonably priced herringbone (black) border runner. The grand total of the project cost me £55.95 and I can honestly say it has completed transformed the space.
